When I was first starting out in sales, the only resources to learn from were textbooks that lacked detail on how to translate sales principles into a sales call, blogs from retired sales people who trained on outdated sales styles to customer personas that no longer exist, and don’t even get me started on those “motivational” sales coaches; the name of this blog might give you a hint as to who I’m referring to. I was extremely fortunate to be admitted to a workshop at Indiana University that gave me the opportunity to practice sales calls with professional sales people before I started my first job in sales.
I started this blog to help the students like me who want to practice and develop their sales skills but don’t know where to start or who to believe when there are conflicting opinions. Here I will share the principles of sales that I’ve found to be most important and practical ways to put them to use. Regardless of your profession, industry, or background, there is more that you can learn about sales – I know I still have lots to learn – so I hope you’ll choose to learn with me.
